Dawg Talks

Our Dawg Talk webinars provide the opportunity for incoming student to connect with various campus programs and departments. Through differing webinars over the summer, students and families will

  • Have a better understanding of the UGA resources and programs that are available to new students
  • Be able to learn about resources from campus experts and ask topic specific questions to UGA offices and departments
  • To seek help with various UGA questions including class registration, auxiliary services, and finding connection on campus.

There will be four different types of Dawg Talk webinars: Webinars Open to All Students, First-Year Focused Webinars, Transfer Focused Webinars and Families and Parents focused.

Below you will find more information about the different types of webinars, the webinars offered to each group, as well as the dates and times they will be offered throughout the summer. All webinars will take place at 1:00pm EST on their respective days and last one hour.

First-Year Webinars
Greek Life

The Greek Life Dawg Talks Webinar will provide an overview of our Greek Community here at the University of Georgia. Our community hosts 65 fraternities and sororities across 4 governing councils: Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Council. In this session we will cover each of these councils, their membership recruitment/intake process, and the benefits of Greek Life as a part of the student experience here at UGA.

These sessions will be held on the following days:

Division of Academic Enhancement (DAE)

The Division of Academic Enhancement (DAE) is a student success unit at the University of Georgia and offers a wide variety of services, programs, and courses to ensure your success at UGA.  Join our presentation to see how we can help you Learn. Differently.

Faculty Panel

The University of Georgia prides itself in offering a first-class education for its students but that transition to becoming a successful UGA student requires a certain dedication and motivation. Join Student Transitions and learn how you can make the most of your transition into the University of Georgia! From the Dawg Camp extended orientation program to WelcomeUGA, during this session we will highlight all of the ways that you can get connected, involved, and prepared as you start your UGA journey.

Have questions about meal plans, bus routes, parking permits, or textbooks?

This session introduces you to important campus resources provided by Auxiliary Services. Ask questions and hear from students and professionals on Dining Services, the UGA Bookstore, One Stop Shop, UGA Golf Course, Transportation and Parking Services, and Vending Services.

Learning Without Borders

Enrich your UGA experience through study abroad and undergraduate research!  In this session, discover opportunities for global engagement (international and domestic) and research available to all UGA undergraduate students, as well as learn about academic, funding, scholarship, and presentation benefits offered through the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO).

Starting at a new place can provide a number of opportunities to grow, develop, and thrive once you get connected – but, you may be wondering how to do that at a place so large like the University of Georgia. Join the staff of Multicultural Services & Programs, the LGBT Resource Center, and International Student Life to learn more about how to find a connection and a sense of belonging right from the start of your journey as a Bulldog. This engaging panel will feature perspectives and tips from current students and staff as well as an opportunity to ask questions!

Campus Safety

The Campus Safety session will provide information from two offices on campus: The Office of Emergency Preparedness and the UGA Police Department; both presentations will focus on sharing information designed to facilitate your safety and security while on campus.  The UGA Police Department will discuss the services their department offers and will focus on campus safety and answering common questions students and parents have for the Police Department. The Office of Emergency Preparedness will discuss how to prepare for potential emergencies on campus.

Financial Aid/Student Accounts

UGA’s estimated cost of attendance, how to apply for federal & state aid, HOPE/ Zell Miller Scholarship amounts, how to apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan, how to apply for the Parent PLUS Loan, how to submit outside scholarship checks to UGA, how to view a student’s Award in Athena, how to search for additional scholarships plus much, much more! Also Learn more about understanding your bill, payment deadlines and payment options. We will also provide information on how students set up authorized users as well as payment and refund profiles.
