Due to current UGA policies the decision has been made to deliver New Student Orientation in a hybrid format this Spring. This experience will incorporate asynchronously delivered online modules and online engagement opportunities coupled with an in-person orientation experience that will be optional for incoming students. Though voluntary, we highly encourage students to participate as it will be helpful in your transition and success at UGA. Students will be able work with an advisor to have a 1-to-1 advisement appointment and be able to register for your classes following that appointment.
We know that you may have a lot of questions about how online orientation will look. Below, we have pulled together some of the frequently asked questions regarding online orientation.
Details regarding session registration will be sent via email in the coming weeks.
The UGA 101 modules will open in November. Students must complete these prior to meeting with an academic advisor, so the earlier a student completes them the earlier an academic advisor will contact them.
Though completing the modules earlier will not directly help you in getting all your class preferences, completing them earlier does allow you to meet with your advisor earlier.
These modules are a series of videos, information pages, and links to resources that will help incoming students connect with and learn about various campus resources, programs, and organizations. Upon completion, students will be better prepared to be successful students, leaders, and members of the Bulldog Nation.
Yes! Once you’ve completed the Online New Student Orientation Experience, you will register online via athena.uga.edu.
Once students have completed the UGA 101 modules, you will receive an email within 2-4 business days with instructions on how to sign up for a virtual advising appointment.
