Welcome to UGA!

The New Student Orientation guidebook apps are available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

We look forward to having you with us for Orientation. As you prepare for your trip to Athens, we would like to provide you with some helpful information:

Lodging: Families and guests that are looking for lodging options are encouraged to explore local Athens establishments or The Georgia Center’s UGA Hotel and Conference Center, which is located on campus.

Dining Options: We encourage you and your guests to enjoy a meal on campus. We highly recommend The Bulldog Café in the Tate Student Center, Bolton Dining Hall, and other local establishments.

Registration Holds: Prior to attending New Student Orientation, please be sure to clear the Verification of Lawful Presence and other holds on your student account. You can find holds that you need to clear on your Status Check page. As you complete the Pre-Orientation to-do list, please remember that failure to complete any of these tasks may prevent you from being able to register for classes at your chosen Orientation session.

First-Year Two Day

Arrival: Students and families can check-in on the 5th floor of the Tate Student Center between 10:00 am-11:45 am. Parking for check-in and for the duration of the orientation program will be in the Tate Student Center Parking Deck; students and families will receive a parking validation pass upon checking in.

Please keep in mind that students who arrive after 12:15pm will be unable to attend the day’s orientation session and will be asked to reschedule to a later session to fulfill the orientation requirement. All students must attend a New Student Orientation session; if you do not attend one prior to the start of classes, you must reapply for admission to UGA for a future term.

Pre-Program Options: If you’d like to take a placement exam, explore the Resources Fair, and/or learn more about University Housing and Financial Aid, we recommend that you check in promptly at 10:00 am to participate in those a la carte options prior to the Program Welcome at 12:00 pm.

Service Project: Finally, we would like to highlight a community service project sponsored by the Office of Admissions and New Student Orientation. We will be accepting donations of new and used books for local schools and programs that have a shortage of reading material. Without books, reading and literacy suffers, which can lead to a decline in educational achievement and access to opportunities. Donations can be dropped off at the Ticket Booth on the 5th floor of the Tate Student Center during your orientation session; if you are able to contribute to this cause, it would be greatly appreciated! Please see our website for more information.
