Parents, family members, and any individuals who are a part of a student’s support system, are welcome to attend New Student Orientation. During both first-year and transfer orientation sessions this upcoming summer, each student will be allowed to bring only 1 parent or guest with them due to capacity limits. During sessions, parents and family members will participate in a separate schedule that focuses on the tools, resources, and information necessary to provide the best support to your new Georgia Bulldog. These sessions will include topics such as housing, financial aid, health resources, campus safety, academics, and many other facets of the student experience. You will also have the chance to connect with current students and other new UGA families
When the student registers for a session, they can add the name and email address of the 1 guest they would like to accompany them to orientation. To change the guest, update the email address, or remove a guest, your student can login through the same portal and manually update the guest information there. There is no charge for parents or family members to attend orientation.
Parents and family members will have the opportunity to hear presentations from University Housing, UGA PD, Auxiliary Services, and various other campus offices and resources. They will also have the chance to chat with current students and connect with other UGA families.
Parents and family members are able to eat in Bolton Dining Hall for lunch and dinner at a discounted orientation rate. There are also retail locations available in the Tate Student Center and Miller Learning Center.
New Student Orientation invites parents and family members of students to join our UGA Parent and Family portal. This portal includes updates from campus, articles on UGA offices and resources, and dates and events you need to know. All guests who are registered to attend orientation are automatically added to the portal and all you have to do is complete your profile.
