SUMMER TRANSFER ORIENTATION SESSIONS

ORIENTATION SESSION

Incoming transfer students planning to enroll in any summer academic term will be required to attend a one-day or two-day orientation session. Please see the orientation session timeline based on intended summer entry term below.

Early Summer Orientation Session (One-Day) 

Check-In – 8:00am-9:00am 
Welcome – Programming Begins – 9:00am 

Academic advising will be in the afternoon of orientation. Students will receive an email with their academic advising logistics to their UGA email by 10:00am of their orientation session. 

All Programming Concludes – by 5:00pm 

Summer Transfer Orientation Sessions (Two-Day)  

Day One 

Check-In – 8:30am to 11:00am
Please make sure to eat lunch prior to the Program Welcome as the first meal served to students will be dinner. 
Welcome – Programming Begins – 12:00pm
Family/Supporter Programming Concludes – 6:00pm
Student Programming Concludes – 10:00pm

Day Two 

Academic advising appointments will be conducted between 8:30am-2:30pm. Students will receive an email with their academic advising logistics to their UGA email by 5:00pm on Day 1. 

Course registration assistance is available for students between 9:30-11:30am. 

BEFORE YOU ATTEND

Prior to arriving at orientation, you will receive a pre-orientation email to help prepare you to be successful at orientation. We also suggest you check out the To-Do List prior to attending.

Please keep in mind that attending a New Student Orientation session is mandatory. These sessions will offer the opportunity to connect with other incoming students, campus staff, faculty and Orientation Leaders. It will also allow you to be even more prepared to be successful at UGA with campus tours, an introduction to dining halls, and resource and organizational fairs.

Five days prior to your session, you will be able to access your session schedule on the Welcome to UGA mobile app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play for smartphones and tablets).

SCHEDULING YOUR ORIENTATION SESSION

Students attending courses in any summer semester must attend an orientation session that is before their first day of class. Please refer to the information below to select your orientation session based on your intended summer term 
 
Maymester Term: Attend orientation prior to May 12th 
Extended Summer Term: Attend orientation prior to May 12th 
Thru Term: Attend orientation prior to June 4th 
Short Session I Term: Attend orientation prior to June 4th 
Short Session II Term: Attend orientation prior to July 6th

For Early Summer Session, check-in occurs from 8:00am-9:00am. Placement testing also occurs during this time. Please refer to the Welcome to UGA app for more information. 

For two-day transfer orientation sessions, orientation check-in occurs from 8:30am to 11:00am. Housing Check-in, Placement Testing, and Campus Resource Fair also occur during this time. Lunch is not a part of the program on Day One, so please make sure to eat prior to the Welcome at 12:00pm. Please refer to the Welcome to UGA app for more information.

Parking is provided during orientation in the Hull Street Parking Deck. Parking passes will be given at the Hull Street Parking Deck gate and at check-in.

Students must ensure they have the most updated major in Athena, as that will determine which academic advisor they meet with.

Students must submit their picture and prepay for their UGA OneCard to receive it at orientation.

The UGA Bookstore offers a 20% off coupon off one spirit item for those attending orientation. Get more information at orientation check-in.

The UGA Bookstore is a licensed Apple seller and offers an 8-10% discount off the retail price found online and in stores.

Make sure to bring comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of walking during orientation, as well as a jacket as some buildings can be chilly.
